CAPL is a regional library serving the municipalities of the City of Coatesville, Caln, East Fallowfield, Modena, South Coatesville, Valley, West Brandywine and West Caln.

Caln Township.  Caln township was founded by settlers from Calne, Wiltshirein England in 1714. The relationship with Calne, Wiltshire, continues today as the two towns are sister cities. Thorndale is the commercial and administrative center of Caln Township. Thorndale is historically notable for containing a summer house of US President James Buchanan,  which still stands and has been incorporated into a golf course and turned into a restaurant. http://www.calntownship.org/

  English as a Second Language (ESL) Class every Monday 6:00 to 7:30 pm starting September 9th.  Targeting four language domains of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening initially targeting the beginning level of English language proficiency.

Computer Training.  Learn the basics of Microsoft Word,  Next Sessions will be in October.  Watch this space for the dates.

As part of Longwood Gardens 2019 Community Read CAPL's young patrons have  a summer seed garden in the library's courtyard.  Our July garden is thriving.

Tweens and Teens in the Library.  Every Monday at 3:00 pm and Wednesday at 10:30 am.

Want to make displays, help with projects, and earn hours of volunteer time?

Join our other tweens and teens who are already having a great time using their ideas to help the library! New ideas and suggestions always welcome!


Story time with Miss Pattie. Every Wednesday and Friday at  10:30 am.  Preschool children are invited to join in the fun.


Women’s Yoga. Every Monday and Thursday – 6:00 pm. Please join us, no registration is required.


August 3, Saturday - 10:30 am PAWS for Reading – Introducing Scooter, a Sensory Play Day Mascot and certified therapy dog.  This session is dedicated to children with special needs.

August 17, Saturday - 10:30 am PAWS for Reading – Come and read to Moose (golden retriever) a therapy dog!  If you come and read 5 times you can earn a free Paws T-shirt.  Moose is on vacation in July his dog friend will be with us on July 20.

August 12, Monday - 12:00 noon. CAPL Book Club.

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience?  The Coatesville Area Public Library is looking for additional individuals to instruct patrons one-on-one in the basics of using computers and the Internet. 

Fluency in the use of computers, laptops, smartphones, standard office productivity software, e-mail, the Web, and social networking tools is required, as are strong communication and interpersonal skills, friendliness, patience, and approachability.
